The National Union of Persons with Disabilities of Tajikistan (NUPDT) is the largest and most influential force representing the interests of persons with disabilities in the Republic of Tajikistan. Established in 1990 at the initiative of persons with disabilities themselves, NUPDT has become a key movement for rights and equal opportunities in the country. 2025 we will be 35 years old.
Our team consists of young, professional, and creative specialists who are fully committed to advancing the rights of persons with disabilities. We represent the interests of more than 37,000 beneficiaries and ensure that no person with a disability feels left behind, thanks to the active work of 42 regional offices across the country.
Furthermore, NUPDT actively operates on the international stage, upholding the principle of open doors for collaboration and striving to build an inclusive society not only in Tajikistan but beyond its borders as well.
On March 22, 2018, President of Tajikistan signed the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which became a new milestone for activity of the National Union of People with Disabilities of Tajikistan. This Union is a member of the International Union of the Organization of People with Disabilities of the former Soviet Union. It has been accredited by the UN and may represent Tajikistan in high-level meetings under the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The farming helped the organization in self-financing. The “NUPDT” improves legal literacy of persons with disabilities. It promotes an accessible environment for people with disabilities, and actively participating in the development of laws and regulatory acts relating to disability.
The “NUPDT” is a member of the Public Council under the President of the country and a member of the Coordinating Council for People with Disabilities under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan; also the National Union is a member of the Coordinating Council for the creation of an accessible environment under the Committee for Architecture and Construction.
